6 July
Well, I made it to Basel, Switzerland…another good day in the saddle.
Left Belfort later than I wanted…woke up at 0700 and was going to get up and be out by 0800. Fell back asleep and woke up at 755. Got everything down and loaded by 0900…takes a little while when everything has to be loaded just so and you don’t have any place to put all your gear as you load it…but hey, that’s traveling by bike.
Made it to the Citadel and the Lion, but didn’t care to pay 7 Euro to go out to the platform to take some pics. It included all the citadel displays and museum, but I didn’t really want to visit…had it been Tuesday, just the Lion platform is 1 Euro. Oh well…got the pics I could and off I went. (better ones with the other camera...have not 'prepared' those photos for upload yet)

Trying to get out of Belfort wasn’t a treat by any means…crazy place and street names are not real visible if marked at all. Once I hit the Eurovelo 6 I was off and riding…As I started to get a little hungry, there was no place to be had…that means no place open! So I kept riding.

Huningue, France...I will cross here to Germany |

Took a little break before I got into Germany. Had the opportunity to fill my water bottles and ate some dried apricots and almonds…stuff left over from Jen earlier in her trip. Just a nice little wayside picnic area next to the trail.
More riding and more sights:

The trail is no longer pavement outside Mulhouse |

Made it to the Bridge of Three Nations…very cool sight, especially knowing I wasn’t too far from Bale (Basel). Rode across the bridge into Germany, and soon after the bridge into Basel…

As I stopped at a couple restaurants in Basel I was finding out that 1545 is not a good time to try to get any food…Everyone was only serving drinks. Though it sounded good, I kept rolling. On to the campground and if I find anything I’ll stop. Not sure if the campground will have a little store or not….1600…McDonald’s.
Sad…but I stopped…needed some food pretty badly. Big Mac, Coke and Fries (Medium size) Dessert…Chocolate Sundae. Expensive…about $15 USD…12Franc…about 10 Euro…about …crazy.
Made it to the campground….12 franc for the bike…9 franc for me…about 19 euro…$26 USD….ouch, but Switzerland seems expensive anyway…so much cheaper than hoteling it for sure though! Once I checked in, I got myself a 1l coke and a 50cl bier. We’ll see how much of each disappears tonight.

Got all set up, showered, then ran to the camp store 5 minutes before close…got some Goulash Suppe and some crazy little ‘dancer’ chips.
Used my p38 and my Eat N Tool…came in handy. I’m completely stuffed now and my beer is gone. Haven’t touched the coke…Garmin is now at 66%. Can’t wait till it finishes so I can get to bed. A little sleepy and it has cooled off nicely. Also need to go get my cycling clothes…I know you’re not supposed to dry them, but I threw them in the dryer anyway…not going to kill them a few times a year.

Been a good day overall and hoping tomorrow is just as good. Not sure if I’ll stop for the night in Bern, or continue on to Neuchatel…we’ll see how I feel when I hit Bern.
As I look out on the campground I find it funny how Europeans camp...love the awning for the awning attached to the camper...and the satellite dishes...can't go camping without TV!
Man, this Garmin cannot charge fast enough…I think I’m going to quit for now…the computer is at 97% and I can finish charging at the campsite…
Funny…some lady just came through with a jacket and pants on …acting like it’s chili…I don’t think so.
Later….
2132 on 6 July.
